One of the questions we get the most is "Why are you going for such a large space?"
The answer is pretty simple. Having the the greatest opportunity to make a significant community impact, remain economically strong, and ensures the long term viability of TFAC.
By offering multiple spaces for performance, production, and instruction, we are creating more opportunities for talented people to create and support themselves doing what they love. As more affiliate organizations and individuals are able to generate income through our facility, they will become more independent and able to expand their work, creating more opportunities for others. We will be able to offer Chicago and it's visitors more entertainment options, exposing our guests to a greater variety of ideas and experiences. Perhaps most importantly, we will have ample space for young people in Chicago to find a safe haven to express themselves creatively and positively. Nurturing the creative abilities of our youth helps them to become secure, loving, and positive members of society, who will someday create opportunities for future generations.
The multiple spaces in our facility also offers us a diverse revenue stream does not rely on ticket sales to remain stable. Our facility will be available to renters 24 hours a day. Offering flexibility and lots of options allows us to keep our rental prices low. These low rates removes the financial gatekeeper barrier that prohibits independent companies from producing at larger venues, and allows us to tap into revenue channels that a great many venues are leaving untouched. We believe in the capital of ideas, and the concept that while it takes money to make money, investing in genius can pay far greater dividends.
The long term vision of Theori Fine Arts Center is definitely ambitious. We are looking to become the next great Chicago artistic institution. We intend to be a venue that concierges refer their visitors to with no hesitation. Someday in the future, artists will perform on our stage and have a moment of silent reverie, when they think about the amazing talent that have graced that stage and paved the way for them. Our years will be filled with world class performances from actors, singers, dancers, comics and even magicians. The future leaders of industry will cross our stage at commencements. The next great idea will be unveiled to the world at keynote presentations from revolutionary startup companies. Weddings, birthdays, all sorts of special moments will take place within our walls, and even looking out over the great city of Chicago from our Rooftop Theater. Our vision is to be a source of beauty, energy, and magic in Chicago. It is a grand, large vision, and merits a physical space of equal proportions.
